  • Fez on PlayStation – Reviewed

0 CommentsPosted by on April 5, 2014 under FEATURED, GAME REVIEWS, NEWS
It's hard to write a review for Fez without considering it's checkered past. After all this is a game that comes with ALOT of emotional baggage. Originally released on Xbox 360 in April 2012 after a fluctuating five year development cycle, the game was met with critical acclaim. Yet anyone who had been following the game's progress up to that point, or has seen Indie Game: The Movie, would kno... more.
  • Dead Nation – Free on PS4 for PS Plus Members

I had two choices last night - sweet sweet love with Mrs Hairyback or Flying Solo Love with myself. Time was of the essence because I wanted to start playing my newly downloaded copy of Dead Nation Apocalypse Edition so I opted for the latter, (much to the relief of Mrs Hairyback as it turned out!).   Anyway, I have not played the original so I don't know what's new but I do know th... more.
  • Helldivers – Top Down Co-op Shooter on PS3, PS4 and Vita

I love diving - Scuba diving, Sky diving, Cliff Diving, there's a town called Muff in Ireland (I don't know why that place just popped into my head). Anyway, Helldiving sounds awesome and now I can add it to the list of diving activities that I love. This is a top down co-op shooter from Arrowhead Games and it looks like a ridiculous amount of fun. It's got serious loadout customization fun... more.
  • Tearaway – Reviewed on Vita!

Tearaway is the latest platformer from Media Molecule; the team behind the popular LittleBigPlanet series. Given Media Molecule's background it's clear that creativity is something the team revel in and Tearaway can only be described as a creative, imaginative and beautiful game that fully utilises all of the Vita's functionality. If you own a Vita then you should own this game. The concept... more.
  • The Walking Dead: Season Two – Teaser Trailer Unleashed!

0 CommentsPosted by on October 29, 2013 under NEWS
Undead fans rejoice! Today marks the arrival of a Season Two teaser trailer for Telltale's phenomenally popular episodic adventure drama; The Walking Dead. The game looks set to follow the story of Clementine as she continues her quest to survive in a world overrun by zombies and, perhaps even more worryingly, other human beings. Without giving too much away Season One left Clementine with som... more.
  • Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut – Fright Time!!

0 CommentsPosted by on October 8, 2013 under FEATURED
When I heard that Lone Survivor was a "survival horror" game I jumped at the chance to review it. Survival horror is a genre I've always held close to my heart since taking my first tour of Raccoon City and self-inflicting permanent psychological damage through late night exposure to Silent Hill. With Capcom's classic franchise having all but said goodbye to its horror roots in favour of big b... more.
  • Open Me – Boxy Puzzler Now Out on Vita

0 CommentsPosted by on August 16, 2013 under NEWS
As well as being something that has been said to me many times, 'Open Me' is a new title from PlayStation C.A.M.P! for the Vita that uses AR cards to create 3D puzzles of boxes to be opened. As an advocate of the AR cards I encourage other gamers to embrace this feature of the Vita because it's gotten a lot of flack that it doesn't deserve. Some people say that they don't like the fact that... more.
  • Breakquest: Extra Evolution on Vita – Arkanoid for the 21st Century

If you are a gamer of a certain vintage, you should remember Arkanoid from Taito. Conceptually it was a simple game where you control a ship by moving it left and right along the bottom of the screen underneath a bunch of bricks and use Pong like physics to fire a ball at the bricks and bounce it back until all the bricks have been smashed. To add to the excitement, there were power ups that i... more.
  • Kickbeat – Ass Kicking to a Rhythm

In 1999 I bought my Playstation and I got a free copy of Bust-A-Groove with it. I literally hated that game as it offended every gaming bone in my body, in fact it offended my bone, just ask my ex! As an ape who favors action titles, rhythm-action games are something of a mystery to me but a couple of recent entries to the genre have intrigued me. Retro/Grade which is a rhythm action shoot-... more.
  • Vita Firmware 2.60 arrives today!

0 CommentsPosted by on August 6, 2013 under NEWS
I'm always interested when I hear of a new Vita firmware update. The console launched with a competent interface and feature set but it was not without its flaws. Almost every firmware update to date has sought to rectify issues and add new functionality often addressing highly sought after features that the core Vita audience have been crying out for. So what has firmware version 2.60 got in ... more.
  • A Random Round Up of Playstation Games

As an unpaid gaming ape, I don't write about every game I play and a lot of great games end up flying under the Gamerillaz radar. This is by no means a review of these games, it's just a brief synopsis of a few titles that I think are worth checking out. Feel free to completely disagree with everything I say, I still won't get paid anyway. Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale - PS3... more.
  • August PlayStation Plus Content – Nice!!

Those fiends over at Sony have done it again. They've gone out of their way to make yours truly look like a fool. For not only three weeks after I purchase Spec Ops: The Line with my own hard-earned cash they go and release it for free to Plus members! It’s an outrage, I tell you, an outrage! How are you going to make amends on this one, Sony? What's that, more free games!? Did I say "fiends... more.

Growing up as a gamer I had one very special commodity; time. Once the homework was out of the way, or during holiday season, I had endless hours to pour into my number one pass time. It was during these formative gaming years that I stumbled across a genre of games that became one of my personal favourites; RPGs. And if there is one thing you need as an RPG gamer its time because these bad bo... more.

Someone at Sony likes this handsome hairy ape. Lately I've been been playing Twisted Metal, Smart As and Sleeping Dogs so I've been itching for some FPS action. I've been saving up my pennies to invest in a shooter but along came PS Plus with the July content to save the day and more importantly, my money. So here it is, this July line up for PS 3 is as follows: Battlefield 3 Payday: ... more.
  • Soul Sacrifice – The Review

0 CommentsPosted by on May 13, 2013 under FEATURED, GAME REVIEWS
Just a few weeks back I concluded my preview of Sony's latest Vita adventure Soul Sacrifice with a question. After a lengthy demo that left little to the imagination and hinted at repetitive game design I found myself wondering if the final product would expand on the contents of the demo or if it would simply offer more of the same. I also questioned that if the latter turned out to be the case... more.
