An action film, when it clicks, is a thing of real beauty. It requires machine-like precision. When you've got guns involved, they have to roar. There needs to be blood bags and bullet casings. When there's hand to hand combat, you need to feel there's an army of chiropractors just offscreen cracking their knuckles. We all grew up watching Steven Segal, JCVD and Arnie mowing down hundreds of f... more.

New red-band trailer for ALVH, if it's anything like the red band trailer for Machete then you'll see pretty much ALL the good stuff the movie has to offer in the following two minutes! It's one of these weird history horror mashups kickstarted by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies....anyhoo it's hitting the big screen 20th June...   Predictably, those loveable hacks at The Asylum ... more.
  • John Carter

Well hello John Carter, star of a movie that cost nearly as much as the three lord of the rings movies combined and which has gone down like the proverbial lead balloon at the box office. It's the kind of fiasco that could sink a smaller company than disney. 250 million dollars! It seems an enormous, inconcievable sum, up there with Andreas Gursky's Rhine 2 and Andy Carroll. But like the con... more.

Near the end of the last decade a mini-wave of french horror movies came out of nowhere and frankly shocked the s++t out of an unprepared public. There was the bloodsoaked schizoid embolism that was Haute Tension(which was renamed - appallingly - as Switchblade Romance for an english language release) , the harrowing Martyrs and to round out the trilogy of graphic gallic gorefests, the br... more.

Rather angry satire from Bobcat (Zed from Police Academy) Goldthwait. Frank is a rather angry man at the end of his tether. Unemployed estranged and generally discombobulated he goes on a killing spree aided by a psychopathic teen. It's the astute and highly entertaining mutant offspring of Falling Down + Natural Born Killers , occasionally straying into full-on lecture mode but never gets dull ... more.

...and the good news is, despite Chuck Norris' objections to naughty language (f**k off old man) it looks like it's not going to be some balless pg-13 hugfest, but a full on R rating! So if you like extra cheese with your ham and testosterone sandwiches, get your mouth ready for some violent manly action! ... more.
  • New “Hobbit” screening : people no like

0 CommentsPosted by on April 25, 2012 under FILM and TV's not the movie clip themselves that people are objecting's this new 48 fps b*****t that Peter Jackson is trying to push. If you somehow werent aware, the traditional cinematic look is 24 frames per second. If you have ever had a modern telly try to activate "motion interpolation" or similar on a film to whack it up to 30 fps you'll have noticed the difference. It's too clean... more.
  • Lobo movie back on?

After Guy Richies version got put on hiatus due to Sherlock Holmes, apparently its back on with the director of Mysterious island 2 and Cats and Dogs 2: The Revenge of Pussy Galore taking the helm. Well, that sound REALLY FRAGGING PROMISING. Who is Lobo? Well... Lobo was originally a regular character in Keith Giffen and Roger Slifer’s Green Lantern spin-off Omega Men. At that time... more.

Yay! More Netflix for more people. Up until now poor Sony had been left out of the loop when it came to Netflix. Not any more though! From the 24th of April all Sony products capable of running apps will be able to run the big red movie and TV player - Netflix. The Xbox, Apple and PC gang have had access to this for the last few months but its nice to know that it will now be pretty much a common ... more.

Heroes, Heroes, Heroes... People say you should never meet your heroes. I say it all depends on who your heroes are and if you choose well then you won't be disappointed. I have chosen very well as Jonathan Ross is probably one of, if not my top celebrity hero. He likes comics, movies, comedy and games! He has even had voice-over appearances in Halo 3 and Fable 3 among others - I feel like we ... more.

The things I do for you people. Ever since the birth of Gamerillaz and its fetid ancestor Reaper Gaming I've been here like some kind of movie-related damage sponge and suffering some really really bad/warped movies so you dont have to. Some of the more notably f++ked ones I've, er, enjoyed during that time have been berserk japanese bloodbath Gurotesuku , and last year's Balkan ba... more.

Everyone loves lists right? We're all partial to a bit of horror on GZ and theres a few names that would probably crop up on all our lists...probably a fetid cocktail of Raimi, Romero and Carpenter I'll guess. And this list is pretty good..just a shame that only one of the top 20 was created in the last 2 decades! Pull the finger out modern film-makers, bloody hell! Anyway heres that top twent... more.
  • Game of Thrones – Season 2 so far…

0 CommentsPosted by on April 18, 2012 under FILM and TV
Everyone knows how slowly Game of Thrones kicked off. The first 3 or 4 episodes of the first season were glacially paced but there was an entire world and multiple family hierarchies to introduce...we allowed it that luxury. It started to gather pace half way through and ultimately packed in some of the biggest shock moments in recent TV history. The "Nah, they wont. Hang on...they have!" decaptic... more.
