I've tuned into the Gamescom 2013 Sony press conference for one reason and one reason only; to find out the release date of the PS4. Honestly, despite my love for the system, the Vita was the last thing on my mind. Well, that all changed when these little factoids hit the screen. Check them out and be happy! VITA PRICE DROP!! Yes, it’s been long expected and long awaited and now it’s... more.

I'm always interested when I hear of a new Vita firmware update. The console launched with a competent interface and feature set but it was not without its flaws. Almost every firmware update to date has sought to rectify issues and add new functionality often addressing highly sought after features that the core Vita audience have been crying out for. So what has firmware version 2.60 got in ... more.
  • Lightning Returns: FFXIII – Boobs and Brawn

If you read the item I posted back when "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII" was announced you'll know that I greeted the news with a mix of excitement and dread. Final Fantasy XIII had proved to be one of the biggest disappointments of my gaming life when it was released back in 2010. While simultaneously discarding everything that I had grown to love about the Final Fantasy series while i... more.
  • August PlayStation Plus Content – Nice!!

Those fiends over at Sony have done it again. They've gone out of their way to make yours truly look like a fool. For not only three weeks after I purchase Spec Ops: The Line with my own hard-earned cash they go and release it for free to Plus members! It’s an outrage, I tell you, an outrage! How are you going to make amends on this one, Sony? What's that, more free games!? Did I say "fiends... more.
  • Hotline Miami – Reviewed and Dangerous

Hotline Miami was released for PC last year and has just recently been made available for PS3 and Vita. Is this a worthy target to add to your gaming hit list or should it have been left face down in a puddle of its own blood, a knife wedged deep in the back of its PC skull? You'll have to forgive the somewhat overly violent metaphor but Hotline Miami by Dennaton Games is a game that embraces vio... more.

Namco Bandai has announced that popular JRPG Tales of Xillia 2 will be making its way exclusively to PS3 in Europe and Australasia in 2014. This news comes just a month before the first Tales of Xillia game is due to be released over here on August 9th. Both games received rave reviews in Japan and, as an RPG enthusiast, I'll be very interested to see how the experience translates in this corn... more.

Growing up as a gamer I had one very special commodity; time. Once the homework was out of the way, or during holiday season, I had endless hours to pour into my number one pass time. It was during these formative gaming years that I stumbled across a genre of games that became one of my personal favourites; RPGs. And if there is one thing you need as an RPG gamer its time because these bad bo... more.
  • The Last Of Us – The Review

To say that The Last Of Us is a game that I had been eagerly anticipating would have been putting it mildly. A new I.P. coming from the team that has continuously set the standard for what is possible on PlayStation 3 both in terms of storytelling and graphical power? Yes please. Set in a world ravaged by infection and devoid of civilization? Sounds good to me! And telling a story that is dark... more.
  • PS4: €399! Supports Used Games and No Online Checks!!!

I've seen so many different games in the last hour and a half during the Sony press conference. Too many to go into now when I should be in bed. But probably the biggest piece of information, the most important thing gamers wanted to know and perhaps the key thing which will win the console war for Sony; PS4 supports used games, does not require an online connection or a 24 hour online check-i... more.
  • Mirror’s Edge 2 – It’s happening people!

EA closes its show with a rather pleasant surprise indeed; a brand new Mirror's Edge. The first game, while not perfect, was original and different enough to warrant some serious attention when it came out back in 2008 and has developed something of a cult fan base. I really got a kick out of the parkour and the visceral combat and gunplay felt fluid and satisfying. The promise of a sequel ... more.
  • EA – Good games but few surprises

EA have kicked off their press conference with footage of a new Plants vs. Zombies game subtitled "Garden Warfare". The game features brand new 3D, third-person action and co-operative gameplay. It looks like it could be a fun experience but it’s hardly the game the world has been waiting for. Garden Warfare - get it? It's no Battlefield. There's a pun in there somewhere.. Once the dis... more.
  • €499 + November = Xbox One

€499. That's how much an Xbox One will cost you. And it’s out in November. And it has games. Microsoft chose not to comment on all the controversies so unfortunately those debates will rage on for the time being but at least we now know the price of the console one way or another. It seems a little higher than people expected but when you factor in the bundled Kinect it’s probably about ... more.
  • Xbox One at E3 – The Console War is Waged

Microsoft has taken something of a hammering around the World Wide Web since their press conference unveiling the Xbox One. It was a press conference that left gamers feeling hard done by, if not completely forgotten about. In fact unless you have a fetish for the NFL and a hatred of traditional TV remotes there was little there to be excited about. If the Xbox One was to have any hope of surv... more.

So here's something I wasn't expecting; a brand new Tekken game that's free to play and exclusive to PS3. Namco Bandai has just released details, along with a trailer, of the new game which will be available to download on PSN from June 11th. The game will feature eight playable characters, an arcade mode for offline play and an online mode with ranked and player matches. I don't remember ... more.
  • MGS 5 – Kiefer Sutherland is Snake!!

I'm a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid games. Don't get me wrong, they've had their ups and downs. From creepy, psychic villains to roller-skating bomb-specialists it’s been a weird and wonderful series. And while each game has seen different eras, characters and even protagonists, one thing has always remained consistent; the iconic vocal performance from David Hayter as Snake. Earlier t... more.
