The mere mention of a game to movie crossover is normally met with fear, excitement and banana throwing here in the tree-house. Fear, because they’re normally crap! Excitement, because we’re eternal optimists here and always believe that “this could be the one” and banana throwing, well that’s just for fun. But anyway, news has come to light that Michael Fassbender is set to star in and co-produce the Assassin’s Creed movie.
Speaking to Variety, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures said:
“Michael Fassbender was our first choice” and “Michael is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor.”
With films like X-Men: First Class, Inglorious Basterds, Prometheus and 300 under his belt it’s easy to see why they wanted him. Ubisoft are planning to develop the film independently to ensure creative control, which is a good thing in my book. The article goes on to hint at possible big screen versions of other Ubisoft classics like “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell” and “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon.” We can only dream.
