Who’s your favourite vampire hunter then eh? I’ve got a few but I try and avoid talking about Vamp based media with my fellow gaming hacks here in the Treehouse as eventually some oaf starts bad mouthing Buffy and that just upsets me. Oh and Kong will then try and validate the existence of 30 Days of Night, which makes me want to bitch slap him with an unusually heavy banana. There is one pointy stick carrying badass we can all love though and it is the archetype, the good Prof. Abraham van Helsing.
Indie developer NeocoreGames have announced a new RPG loosely based around the events of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, however it would seem that we will not be playing along as the thick necked Dutch professor of the Gothic novel but rather his son, who is more your metro sexual, moisturising, ethical hair cut wearing type by the looks of the art below.
I’m not sure I like that as an idea really. I would much rather be trudging around Eastern Europe as a middle aged fat bloke with a ridiculous German accent to be honest. That being said The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing does sound like a good idea for a game and we are certainly interested in seeing what Neocore can come up with. Here is what the lead writer Viktor Juhász had to say;
“Being located in Eastern Europe and having experience developing RPGs, Van Helsing is a natural fit for us; it’s a project where we can demonstrate our expertise in both domains and create something novel that RPG fans can appreciate,”
“We’ve always enjoyed crafting games from legendary tales, but with our own twist, and Van Helsing provides us the perfect game world to experiment with.”
Van Helsing will arrive on XBLA and PC towards the end of the year.
