These are traditionally the last few weeks of shiny new games coming out, well at least releases that are worth playing at any rate. Don’t get me wrong there are always exception to the rule, but on the whole the next few months are always grim for games. So, this week we are taking a look at the best prices on some of the biggest releases which are due to arrive in the next few weeks ahead of the long dark gaming summer. This Friday’s Cheap as Chimps includes; goo, chainsaws, hell and beards.

If you missed the first Prototype then you’re clearly some kind of corn munching hayseed and you should be high tailing it down to your local games retailer to bag a copy. But if you’re really comfortable or have a hot beverage on the go, I’ll do you a solid and fill you in. If you’re a Lovecraft fan or have stumbled across the works of that spectacled genius Dennis Detwiller you’ll know all about Outer Gods and Old Ones, to be honest if I had to explain the entire Mythos to you we’d be here all week, in short think alien gods that are made of amorphous matter that are going to screw your day up royal. No I was right in the first place, get the original title which you can pick up from Play.com for £10.99. The follow up picks up after the events of the first game as you find yourself in the role of Sgt James Heller, husband to a deceased wife and child, and a soldier left simply to die. It’s not all bad though as you find yourself with plenty of gooey shape-shifting abilities, which will come in handy as you try and survive in a New York that is reminiscent of many English city centres on a Saturday night. If you like an open world/sandbox game once in a while you could do far worse than to check this bad body out, which sees it’s release this coming Tuesday.

The GZ team have been on it like a car bonnet when it comes to Lollipop Chainsaw. So ok, it may not be the most high brow of titles, it may even be a little bit politically incorrect and granted it’s all a bit schlock-y… Hold on one dang minute, that’s right up our drainpipe. From the crazed mind of Suda51 comes Lollipop Chainsaw which places you in the role of Juliet, a teenage cheerleader who must deal with an outbreak of the undead at her high school. Zombies, cheerleaders and chainsaws. What more could you possibly want?

Oh lordy have we been waiting a long time for this one. The Diablo games kept us welded to our PC for hours upon hours over the years and this, the 3rd game in the series is going to be just the same. I’ve already made preparations for the games release. Here is a handy check list on how you can prepare for all hell breaking loose;
1. Purchase military surplus nuclear fallout shelter, then construct in garden.
2. Stock up on tinned and ‘long-life’ goods. Slim Jim’s are a hardy staple and a must for your pantry. Ohhh Yeaahh!
3. Mass buy toilet roll, or if that is too expensive a visit to your local charity shop will have plenty of books by Dan Brown, which will make an excellent substitute.
4. Kiss your wife/husband/children/pets/or other significant flesh bag goodbye.
5. Sign divorce papers, if applicable.
Diablo 3 is promising to bring us all the hack and slash clicking action we’ll ever need this May and if you haven’t played a game from the franchise before, don’t worry, as we pretty much guaranty your going to love it. If you buy one thing on PC this year make sure it’s this.

Our old buddy Max has been through the ringer the last few years to say the least. Wife and kid moided by gangsters, his only friend seeming to be a certain Mr. J. Daniels and now he finds himself in a stupidly hot part of the world were that Irish blood of his is far to thick for that type of climate. Mr. Payne finds himself knee deep in trouble before far to long, rapped up in a kidnapping and all kinds of shady goings on, which means Rockstar are certainly promising us yet another home run from a company which has produced some of the greatest games of all time. If nothing else Max Payne 3 will surely take home the Best Beard in Gaming award at next years BAFTA’s.
