Cheap as Chimps – 13th January 2012

January brings with it many traditions. Illness, going back to work or school, being in a worse financial position than a tramp and of course, sales. This week we are selecting some of the best prices on some titles that you may have previously missed out on, in this January sale special.

Saints Row 2; at Amazon UK

Xbox 360 – £5.99/$9.16/7.83 Euro

For those of you not who have not yet purchased the third Saints game, if you haven’t played at least number two then take our advice and do so before paying the big cash for the latest instalment. For a start anyone buying the third game in a series before having at the earlier releases, especially when they are still available is the type of psychopath who drops bags of cats into canals for laughs. At this price SR2 is well worth looking at if your not overly keen on paying top price for number 3 or just need something to keep you going between GTA announcements.

LA Noire; at Play.com

PS3 – £17.99/$27.50/21.50 Euro

This title had us champing at the bit since it was announced by Rockstar all the way back in 2004, unfortunately, as so often the case though the PR machines over egged the pudding somewhat. For those not in the know, L.A. Noire is in the same vein as the classic Noire movies of the 1940’s such as Double Indemnity and The Maltese Falcon. This one should be played wearing a Trilby and Spats while calling everyone Doll-Face. A solid enough title to fill those dark nights.

Disney Epic Mickey; at HMV

£16.99/$26.00/20.50 Euro

If you’ve not had a look at Epic Mickey yet and enjoy a platformer, then you really should. Although many of us hardcore gamers won’t even think to look at a title with Disney on the box, Epic Mickey isn’t just another money spinner meant to fleece parents of their hard earned cash. Instead what you have here is a platformer that puts a different twist on the genre and the cartoon world with some genuinely sinister moments. This is a game that has something for all ages and is well worth a look.

Diablo Battle Chest; at Best Buy

PC – $19.99/£13.08/15.80 Euro

With the confirmation that the long awaited Diablo 3 would be available on console, much joy and jollifications broke out at Gamerillaz HQ. The Great Ape himself even climbed down from the upper branches and graced us with a performance of the “happy-dance”. If you were hospitalized when the first two Diablo games arrived, or chained to a radiator somewhere (for these are the only excuses for not having played them) do yourself a massive good turn and get hold of this boxset.
