CES 2012: Google Android TV

The worlds first television powered by Google’s Android operating system has been unveiled in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Manufactured by Lenovo and given the catchy moniker of K91 Smart TV it will come in two sizes- 42″ and 50″- and on launch be only available to the Chinese market.

Here comes the science bit! The processor will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon running at 1.5Ghz, 1GB of Ram, a 5mp webcam and SD card storage. Touch screen tech for the remote control along with integrated microphone. Phew!

A statement from Lenovo read: “As the world’s first smart TV powered by QualComm’s 8060 Snapdragon dual core CPU, the K91 is also the world’s first smart TV running the Android 4.0 operating system – which will revolutionise technology in the living room.”

“Its smart “Sandwich” UI unites three major smart TV functions, including video on demand, internet applications and traditional TV programmes.”

Available now if you feel like a trip to China. While you’re there could you pick up one for us?
